So many years ago, there was chatter on this forum about the supposed YF-24 designation, because an older edition of the online biography of USAF pilot Joseph Lanni (from June 2004) mentioned a "YF-24" in a list of aircraft flown by Lanni under the section "Flight Information", and the list of assignments involving Lanni as well as mention of classified prototypes in the biography of Lanni led to some speculation on online forums that YF-24 was applied to a classified fighter prototype. However, the updated version of Lanni's biography does not mention YF-24 at all despite mentioning "numerous classified prototypes", and in my opinion, Lanni had previously listed YF-24 by mistake, but given Lanni's assignment to a USAF test squadron at Edwards AFB, the possibility that Lanni test flew the kind of aircraft that crashed at RAF Boscombe Down in September 1994 cannot be ruled out.
