Back in 2019, Aviation Week & Space Technology reported that the RQ-180 Formal Training Unit (74th Reconnaissance Squadron) had been stood up at Beale the previous year, assuming the role previously held by Det 5, 9th Operations Group. The 427th Reconnaissance Squadron, which had been inactivated in 2015, was reactivated, and Det 4, 9th OG, was stood up at Andersen AFB on Guam. Various U-2 enthusiasts have pointed out construction of new hangars at RAF Fairford in England that are reportedly intended for UAVS (an environmental impact statement apparently said flight activity would take place during nighttime hours). Make of it what you will.
