I agree that Chris Gibson is an excellent witness and we should therefor take his sighting very serious. However, the fact alone that the page about secret aircraft at Groom Lake at THE complete and informative website about Groom Lake hasn’t been updated in 16 years is very telling in itself: black aircraft are very, very rare. The Gibson sighting is a generation ago: 33 years! Really, if there ever was an semi-operational secret aircraft, we really should have heard more than some unsubstantiated claims about it. Hell, if it ever was operational, it’s very likely already mothballed! People talk, there should have been some (perhaps indirect) references in documents by now. Even if they managed to keep all the Americans involved to stay quiet, other people would know; other intelligence agencies would CERTAINLY know. There would have been more sightings, more anecdotal evidence, budgets, squadrons, logistics, etc. The fact that a after a whole generation not a single shred of evidence has come forward can only lead to one conclusion: an aircraft like Aurora, ASTRA or the F-121 never existed. Chris Gibson surely saw something very interesting and I don’t think he is lying or making things up. But it was probably much more mundane, but hey, F117, B2’s or maybe even a F111 are exciting to see, too!
