Thanks, Pinyon72. You have captured my intent in a nutshell. It took nearly four decades of research to pull this all together. My goal was to make the narrative interesting and readable, and to provide content that was as comprehensive as possible with the constraint of using only unclassified source material. The book would be nothing without those 47 pages of source notes at the end. I was not merely thorough but positively obsessive about sourcing the entire text. This had two purposes. First, I wanted to show that I had done my homework. Second, I didn't wish to give anyone an excuse to accuse me of using any material I shouldn't have.
