Last year we reported the construction of a new radio tower on a hill near the Groom Lake Road guard shack. This updated photo shows that it is indeed some sort of microwave relay. The dish in this photo points roughly in the direction of Mount Irish. Since the photo was taken another dish was installed further up the tower and an omni directional microwave antenna at the top. The design would indicate and air-ground communications or data relay. For more information and a much higher resolution photo see the attached link. Any information on the somewhat unusual looking microwave panel is much appreciated. The super high-resolution 2021 photo was taken by a photographer who wishes to remain anonymous.
