We first reported plans for new power lines into Area 51 last year. Now it is official: The US Air Force has applied for a Rights-of-Way grant for the purpose of installing a 69 kV transmission line from Scott Substation to Area 51 through Tikaboo Valley, Lincoln County, Nevada. See attached link. If the included map is accurate, the lines would enter the restricted area south of the GL Rd. Guard Shack. According to the document the power lines will provide power to a number of remote facilities that are currently powered by generator. It has always surprised me that Area 51 entirely relied on the power lines coming in from the NTS north of Station 700. Looks like someone finally figured they need a "Plan B".
