I think it is a very clear possibility that that is what the F-35 was doing. But why? To test engine upgrades? And yes, personnel from Edwards regularly travels to Groom and ED aircraft have been known to land there. In fact for the two day mission that the departing aircraft in my original post were part of personnel was flown in from Edwards, Plant 42 and Point Mugu. Janet 09 made stops at all three locations before arriving at Groom on 8/27. The next day Janet 10 returned them in reverse order.
