Thank you for sharing that. I had never considered that, but I take your word for it. It basically means that for military aircraft we cannot always rely on what the tracking web sites show. I don't think it would be very common, but the aircraft registration reported may be different from the actual aircraft if the transponder was swapped. From what you say it would likely be a similar type aircraft from the same unit though. Very interesting.
