30 to 90% less flap deflection needed was what the NASA and Northrop Grumman research pointed to. As well as that there is a massive improvement in handling at slower speeds at both runway and cruise altitude, especially with the flow directed from tip inwards across the control systems.

So yeah, there are many major advantages to getting active flow onboard (or else Northrop Grumman would never have spent 1.9 billion dollars on it in all its iterations so far)
