Northrop Grumman publicly stated for the first time that it was no longer in the race to win the NGAD competition, in which case Lockheed Martin's endorsement of the XA100 rather than the XA101 as the powerplant for the NGAD didn't mean that it was going to withdraw from the NGAD competition.

Recall that when the F-22 was selected as the winner of the ATF contest, the Pratt & Whitney F119 and General Electric YF120 were still in the running on be the powerplant for the winning ATF design, and in August 1991 the F119 was awarded the EMD contract for the ATF engine. Does anyone recall whether the companies involved in manufacturing the YF-22s favored the F119 over the YF120 as their preferred engine for the winning ATF engine design?
