Irrelevant, no - but I will keep my optimism low. I've worked in R&D for a while, and one general rule of thumb we abided by regarding futurist/ far technology: Once you have a prediction for how long it will take to bring to market...then triple it. A couple of small details worth noting that tend to be left out from most reports on this: 1. the fusion lasted for something like a millionth of a second 2. the device being used to measure it got fried in the process, so accuracy is under question
