The Boeing 747-400 mounted COIL (Chemical Oxygen Iodine LASER)ABM weapon has been successfully tested for first light and first flight at the end of 2004 (see link) (my thanks to my bud Mike at Boeing for the info). The work is progressing well with an important milestone happening just yesterday. I don't think that any attempt was made to interfere with the test flight because lots more was learned from it's flight (and failure) that if we toppled the launch. I do think there is probably a Spec Ops sub going to be doing some trash removal from the ocean off of NK.
