The airborne laser was a project started by Jimmy Carter. One suspects they have had some time to work on it. In fact, people have worked on it long enough to retire. Technically, a Russian missile in a silo doesn't point at something. Rather, it is targetted via coordinates in the nav system. The Russians have the capability of multiple warheads, so the notion of pointing at a target is total nonsense. In any event, the Russians have brains and know they will be toast if they try to nuke us since we will nuke them. MAD has worked for decades. ABM is another story, but some companies did make a dollar or two. The PDRK rocket is liquid fueled. That is the reason we knew they were about to launch it as it can be observed being filled. [For those who monitored 11.175usb, the activity in coded messages was easily noticed, i.e. something was up.] A simple cruise missile can take the PDRK rocket out right on the launch pad. Regarding the guns in the cockpit, a plane full of hostages BEHIND the cabin door is all you need. That is why the sky marshalls are a better plan than the gun in the cockpit, which if you think about it doesn't make any sense once the door has been fortified.
