The winner of the F/A-XX competition is now expected to be announced this week.

Should Boeing win the F/A-XX contest, it will undertake two stealth fighter programs in parallel, similar to Lockheed Martin running the F-22 and F-35 programs simultaneously. Alternately, if Northrop Grumman is awarded the F/A-XX contract, this would mark the first time since the 1950s that a Northrop fighter design has been ordered into production.
