Generally speaking one can expect systems in test at Area 51 to be at least 30 years advanced over current state of the art. When you look back at documented aircraft tested at Groom, such as the U-2 in the 50's, the A-12 in the 60's, the F-117 in the 70's etc., that seems to hold true. What are they working on today? I wish I knew! Look at the best our potential enemies have to offer. And one-up that. I hope! :-) Recent projects include subsystems for the B-21, the NGAD competition, radar countermeasures (incl. passive radar systems) and other electronic gizmos. Possibly UAV test & eval, but that seems to take place more at the new Yucca air strip.
