Years ago the USAF was pushing to extend the drone no-fly zone to include most of Tikaboo Valley and Sand Spring Valley. I went in front of our county Commissioners and argued that the Air Force already has enough of a buffer zone. To my surprise they agreed with me and denied the Air Force's request. In turn I have published a page that explains where you can and cannot fly drones legally around Groom. I was hoping that would prevent folks from accidentally flying in restricted airspace. Of course it won't deter the yahoos that do it on purpose... There are no consumer drones with optics good enough to produce decent images from 15+ miles away. but I am afraid the current wave of drone sightings will be used to finally extend the no fly zone, making it illegal to fly along Hwy 375 or over Rachel. I lost my drone in the FBI raid and I cannot afford to buy a new one. But I am strongly opposed to extending the no fly zone or to any other new restrictions and I will continue to argue my case where ever I can.
