I have just uploaded a new video showing the drive to the Tikaboo Peak trailhead and the washed out section near the end of the road. For old timers like me: The rough Medsger Pass shortcut has been improved to the point where it is now the better road. The old road with the sharp turn at the intersection to Desert Lake is not bad either, but has some sandy spots and moderate wash-outs. The road is maintained and except for right after storms it is an easy 2WD drive up to the intersection with the road back to Alamo, suitable for most cars. After that you need moderately high clearance. To make it past the wash out you need a 4WD vehicle with a short wheel base, like a Jeep Wrangler with a moderate lift. Or a truck that you really don't care about... :-)
