While I'm not convince it will happen again, the USAF has picked up Navy fighters before to fill a gap in capability, such as the F4 Phantom. I wonder if there is any chance the USAF decided to let the Navy take the burden of development costs and will simply buy the F/A-XX as their F-22 replacement...
