As Dan Zinngrabe has mentioned elsewhere on this forum, the "SR-72" directly evolved the cancelled HTV-3X, and the Sandboxx article corroborates reports from 2007 about Lockheed Martin undertaking design work on an ISR aircraft drawing upon the company's Blackswift and Hypersonic Cruise Vehicle projects.

Given what the article states regarding the FRV, it is unclear if the FRV possibly logged speeds in the Mach 3 to 4 flight regime given that it has been described before as a single-engine vehicle.
