Like Joerg said, it looks recently upgraded. At one point, it looks like that aviation facility serviced the NERVA test stand. NERVA was a project ran by Aerojet to built a nuclear-powered rocket engine. The test stand for that is nearby. At this point, though, looking at the test stand and test cell, it's safe to say they've been abandoned for years and that all of the action is right there with the facilities they've built surrounding the helipads. As to what they're doing, we can only speculate. This is the Nevada National Security Site. Everything done there is highly compartmentalized.
