Sounds like you have already done good research. The Red Flag day launch usually starts between noon and 1pm. If you get there around 11am you will see a lot of spotters with long lenses along the speedway gates at LV Blvd. I prefer a location close to Hollywood where the aircraft are lower. Others are further up, towards Apex, where you can get "gear up" shots. Enjoy your visit.
