On page 458 of Peter Merlin's book on Area 51, there is mention of DARPA launching an initiative in FY 2015 to develop and fly two technology demonstrators to test technologies for a sixth-generation jet fighter (one for the Air Force, one for the Navy). Since the resume of Colonel Dan Javorsek mentions that he served as "a squadron commander and director of a combined test force conducting high-priority next generation air dominance flight tests of unique experimental aircraft", and it lists him as having been Squadron Commander from June 2014 to June 2016 but provides no assignment data for that role, the X-273 which Javorsek piloted seems of have been one of two NGAD technology demonstrators mentioned by Frank Kendall because if the NGAD program began in 2015, then the X-273 might have been completed sometime later that year and test flown in the early 2016 timeframe.
