The OP said they were on Guard 121.500. I was not monitoring Guard but heard the ground side on Nellis Track 126.950. Neither freq is on Liveatc.net covering this area. Anyone have a link? What I heard on Track started with the controller addressing the aircraft by the N-number and stating that this was a discrete/simplex frequency. He then asked the pilot for his pilot certificate number. When the pilot apparently tried to stall stating he did not have it the controller rather sternly asked the pilot to look for it and get back to him when he found it. He then gave the aircraft new vectors. Seeing the track now I believe that was when the aircraft started heading north. There was quite a bit more exchange after that but sadly I was busy and did not listen to it. In hindsight I wish I had.
