Sweetman's guess about the B-21's wingspan is based on his size comparison of the B-21 in publicly released photos of the aircraft with the B-2. I remember that the Northrop Grumman NGB proposal of envisaged in the 2006-2008 timeframe had the "cranked kite" layout of the X-47B UCAV technology demonstrator, so Northrop Grumman seems to have reworked its NGB proposal for the Long Range Strike Bomber competition to use longer wings (the Boeing/Lockheed Martin NGB proposal had the same planform as the B-21 Raider) to meet the range parameters spelled out as part of the LRSB operational requirement because the Northrop Grumman NGB design probably had some inadequate operating range.
