Yep, probably the biggest is what is effectively a full scale refurbishment of RAAF Tindal several hundred kilometeres south of Darwin. It currently hosts a single squadron of F-35s and has a small general aviation area on the other side, but shortly works will commence to build six pads capable of supporting heavy bomber deployments for periods of up to 6 months each year. Big money has also been spent on the Woomera airbase in recent times, it has always been a trials/test base dating all the way back to the early 1950s Maralinga nuclear tests. Pedant mode on, its just Northern Territory, not Northern territories. Its bigger than some states!
Useless trivia tidbit: the current Northern Territory govt tourism campaign has the slogan " CUintheNT", with "in the" in very small print.....
