Northrop Grumman's withdrawal from the bidding for an NGAD production contract reflects the fact that Northrop Grumman itself is preoccupied with development of the B-21 Raider bomber and RQ-180 reconnaissance UAV flying wing spyplane. At the same time, the company's refusal to rule out a bid for the F/A-XX contract demonstrates that NG feels it might have enough prior experience from testing of the X-47B for the USAF to declare Northrop Grumman the winner of the F/A-XX competition.
