I didn't know about that, but if Boeing wins the NGAD competition, it remains to see if the name Voodoo II will be applied to the Boeing NGAD design. The F-101 had the honor of being the first McDonnell combat aircraft design exclusively built for the USAF to enter production, and although the baseline Air Force version of the Phantom II was originally called F-110 and christened Spectre before being redesignated F-4C under the September 1962 Tri-Service designation system for aircraft, it was still named for an evil spirit, as was the case with other McDonnell fighter products.
