I know nothing about anything, but my current opinion is it likely the simulators have little to any error being simulated in the sensor systems. And this error would compound in multiple ways (dimensions) as it iterates. For example, using a laser to range a target must have issues in processing returns similar to those found in contemporary radars, such as range gate or velocity gate straddle. These issues are currently solved with additional beam time (dwell) on target (maybe only an additional second), but unravelling multiple platform data with the error processing required is probably not being accounted for in these flight simulators. It could be the results are "best case" and not reflective of what may be real world.
Really enjoy your commentary.
