I wonder if it's like the repurposing the idea from the old Ovation Adamas model acoustic guitar design (see link) where instead of a large soundhole in the middle of the instrument there are numerous small to medium size computer designed holes that are supposed to be optimized for better volume and projection. If you've never seen one you'll think "why all the weird holes?" Then if that isn't weird enough it's got a carbon fiber back. So interesting that they are
