Eilson has long hosted cold weather testing, but the Red Flag operations have taken over a lot of the hangars and shelters that used to be available. Wurtsmith AFB, hosted the F-117 during over-water testing over Lake Michigan but it's been closed for 30 years now. (An airman assigned at Wurtsmith had worked with the test team before we were assigned together later.) White Sands/Holloman AFB is long-rumored to be a host for black projects. Eglin AFB with its many bomber-sized auxiliary airfields has hosted black projects. Offshore, Kwajalein has been pointed to as a site where black projects have operated. Unlike Diego Garcia it is controlled by the US military. Another offshore location might be the totally isolated Wake Island Naval Airfield.
