When you see how 'back to basics' this was? You'll laugh. A start up today (we did the math) with the plans and nothing else? If it costs 85 million a copy that would be asking a big price. Once you accept a mach 3 cruise and a mach 6 sprint by rocket? It is child's play. One company even developed this absolutely insane micro-pellet solid rocket fuel that was so stupidly safe that it was all but inert until roused for anger. There is a reason why China has a mach 5 drone out there - they bloody well know that rocket is a winner if you need a rapid response vehicle. Add two mach 3 engines for efficient long range cruise in and out? You are 9/10ths done. There frankly is zero excuse for the US DoD estate not to have had a mach 6 air vehicle running as regular as an F-15. None.
Wasn't anything enough. Most of it in the super duper realm simply did not do what it was advertised at all.
