The youtube personality Professor Simon Holland claimed the fuel for such an aircraft was offloaded from oceangoing ships at the POL Refueling Depot (apparently only half a mile from his parents house in Campbelltown Loch) and pipelined to the Macrihanish base by an 8 or so mile pipeline. Watch his youtube video "The Aurora Row". Might have some bearing, might not. He's also got videos about the Calvine object which are interesting too.
