Hi, Tom here - longtime DLR fan, my 1st post in decades. I've noticed that several real or rumored planes are described as having rectangular exhausts, e.g.:
- Eberle's 1999 "fastmover"
- Boeing "Mothership" in "The War Zone" in 2019
- SR-72
- X-43
Normally plane propulsion methods involve circular exhausts: jets, rockets, ram-jets, V1 pulse jets.
I'm no engineer, but I wonder how rectangular exhausts would work, regarding both airflow and pressure resistance.
