I think those are going out the top. The 3 red striped squares in front of the red striped rectangle on top of aircraft in the second photo, seem to represent upward facing bombbays. I remember something about there being a problem with weapons following in the slipstream behind the US Navy's RA-5 "Vigilante" bomber after being ejected out of the "linear bombbay" positioned between the engine exhausts
