People knew about the B-2 first flight because word gets around. It may be that the date was publicly announced, too. I don't remember.

When I was living in Lancaster, I would sometimes drive past the corner that served as a prime viewing spot for Palmdale flight activities. If I saw a crowd spontaneously forming, I knew something interesting was happening.
