The public was aware of the F-22/23 competition. Not very classified only for company vs' company because it was a competition Lockheed and Northrop. It happened at Edwards AFB. It was a cool time to work there I was working for the engine support team on the Pratt/Whitney side. We were not allowed inside the GE side of the engine shop. IMHO the F-23 was better. At the end of the day f-22 won.
