Technology for the B-2 Spirit was developed at Groom Lake in the early 1980s using Northrop's TACIT BLUE demonstrator. It was the first low observable aircraft designed with only curved surfaces as opposed to Lockheed's faceted approach.

The B-2 itself has been flown over the radar cross-section (RCS) measurement range at Groom Lake to verify its low observable characteristics and to test improvements aimed at reducing the airplane's radar signature. I saw a B-2 circling over Groom Lake in March 1993.
