You know... spotting all these "threats" flying over the country that we were ignoring (or missing) until last week may be a very effective way to get Congress to loosen the purse strings and get our military up to date. One general would have to go on CNN and say "we're just lucky it didn't have weapons on it, because we needed an F-22 to get to it, and those are 3-4 hours away because we have so few of them." And suddenly there'd be a public uproar to boost military spending.
