Nope. There is simply no practical reason to construct any subterranean facilities at Groom Lake. The entire purpose of the base is to test airplanes and their associated weapon systems and avionics. Groom Lake is the center of a vast open-air test range dotted with radar sites and instrumentation. Rumors of "underground hangars" are entirely unfounded. No one who has been proven to have actually worked at Area 51 has ever claimed that such facilities exist, nor have mention of such things been discovered in any government documentation. Conventional hangars conceal their contents just as well at a fraction of the cost. The nearest subterranean facilities are the tunnel complexes at the Nevada National Security Site (formerly Nevada Test Site). Those were excavated solely for containment of underground nuclear explosive detonations and flor placement of scientific instrumentation to record blast effects.
