The Wiki page you are citing is for AFOTEC, which is a completely different organization from the Air Force Test Center (AFTC, formerly known as AFFTC). Det 3, AFOTEC, has absolutely nothing to do with Groom Lake (Det 3, AFTC). People get all excited whenever they see "Det 3" but there are dozens of detachments with that number throughout the Air Force. They all have different parent organizations.
