Honestly, if the bus stops at the guard shack for only 1-2 minutes as Jörg indicated and there are like two dozen people on the bus ("Usually there are about 10 to 20 workers at each stop" is a bit unclear - does this refer to total number of passengers or with 3 stops there are 30-60 people on the bus?!?), with a very conservative low estimate (2 min = 120 seconds stop and only 20 people on board) that would be six seconds (120/20) to check each passenger.

Therefore, I'd still assume that the check will not go much beyond "Oh, there is Harry in the back and Joe right behind the driver, and seems like Dennis has a day off today or is ill" ;-)

Who can get on the bus in the first place is probably the better "filter" and then later on at the base there will be additional access control with the CAC - very interesting information, thanks for sharing!
