I have mixed feelings about these stories.

Machrihanish was inarguably used by the US military to house and stage special warfare units - the SR-71 and a Navy SEAL unit were both stationed there.

supposed witnesses described hearing and seeing things in the evenings and mornings, but no pictures? There were lots of photos of the SR-71 operating out of the UK even when it was still in the black.
