As far as I know, the base transferred from CIA to USAF about 1978. Prior to the USAF redisgnation from AFFTC to AFTC, wasn't it designated as Detachment 3 from KEDW AFTC HQ? As you say, the coin has nothing to do with this. Peter, I apologise for OT but are you familiar with a place called Ash Meadows to the SW? I flew my Cessna 210 in there a long, long time ago.
