That article about the NASA U-2 reminded me of the lightning strike/storm hazard program my old boss at NASA Langley, the legendary Norm Crabill, ran in the early/mid 1980s. They used a two seat F-106 bailed to NASA by USAF, it got struck by lightning several hundred times over the length of the project. I remember the day they got struck 70 times in one flight.
