Does anyone here remember the "special" NTS (at the time) tour that Glenn Campbell helped arrange in the '90s? It was an invitation-only affair as I recall, with a number of the die-hard Desert Rat readers participating as well (including me). They took us to a number of sites not covered in the normal tour, including Area 12, Areas 19/20 and the emplacement tower for the cancelled Greenwater test. The tour was timed to coincide with a airshow at Nellis AFB that featured a very low-level flyby of an SR-71. I specifically remember on the tour, as we were coming back down the mountain from Area 12, our guide pointing off in the distance and mentioning we could see the northern part of a certain dry lake bed that, as he said, "may be of some interest to us." Unfortunately my notes from the trip have been lost to history...
