Absolutely a deliberate act to get 'caught', much like the time they flew the 'unknowns' over CONUS. Same reason. "Look what we got." And now the Chinese forces are in a mad scramble to find her as they know now that every move they make, an invisible predator is watching them - which gets them lighting themselves up like a Christmas tree for the ELINT birds swirling about the SCS.

A triple edged sword. To our allies, it is a show of commitment. To China, a show of force. To the US public, a show of political will.
