With your clue, I found the event: Baja Nevada, 600-mile Offroad Race, Alamo to Pahrump, Nevada.

I worked the Silver State Classic Open Road Race on Sun 16 May. It closes SR-318 from Lund to Hiko, and I saw that the Baja Nevada race crossed 318, but on Sat.

A lot of activity last weekend for the lonely desert.
