I've been banging on about AESA used as more than mere radar for a long time now. Happy to be able to quote this. "“You no longer have a radar, no longer have electronic warfare, no longer have a radio,” said Jason “Tex” Clark, director for Advanced Mission Systems at RI&S. “Instead, you have multifunction hardware that does it all and can be repurposed very quickly – switching between functions so quickly it seems instantaneous.” The work matured back in 2014/15, and has really gotten to a point where X-band AESA are truly a multifunction tool.
