If someone really didn't want to let the world know there was something going on here, wouldn't they have been better off not announcing this or issuing a NOTAM? What percentage of a/c are even capable of flying in that 45-60K ft. band? 10% maybe? Military a/c and high dollar bizjets primarily.

The two concerns here would have been safety and security. Wouldn't the "big sky" theory and judicious air traffic control at the time of the pass through have eliminated both concerns consideing the small number of a/c even capable of operating in the corridor? And if on the off chance someone in a bizjet did see something, wouldn't it have been better to just shrug and shake heads? What's the media got then, another mystery story like the "cruise missile" looking craft that buzzed the AA flight last month?

By releasing the NOTAM, attention was called to the corridor before hand, increasing the risk of something being seen simply because people like many of us here would have looking/listening. Or maybe that's what they were counting on, misdirection?
