There was a mission last night in the ranges involving three aircraft out of Groom (... 72, 73 and 98) and RAT55. The latter is a somewhat mysterious test platform for airborne radar and IR measurements, likely operating out of Edwards AFB. Other agencies involved: The attached audio clip is of the primary and secondary mission frequencies between 5:38am and 7:06am this morning. RAT55 can be heard checking in and stating they are coordinating with Joshua around 2:45. No further comms from RAT55, only from the ground side. They likely use an alternate voice downlink. Comments?
Ramrod - NTTR Mission Controller
Groundhog - Area 51 tower for test aircraft
Breach - Mission controller?
Grizzly - Area 51 Airspace Controller
Although it is never stated in the recording, the Groom mission callsign of the month for 72,73,98 is "Petty".
